Small Christian Groups
Looking to connect with others, share your faith, hear others' insights, and/or build a small circle of support and conversation around common interests? Small Christian Groups are from 4-12 members in size, and usually meet based on a common interest, peer group, or available time. They meet in parishioner's homes or on St. Dominic's campus. Existing groups that are welcoming new members include: Sant' Egidio on bi-weekly Monday evenings, the Mother's Group on monthly Wednesday evenings, Christian Meditation on Wednesday evenings, a Bible Faith-Sharing Group on Thursday evenings, and a Family Life Group on monthly Friday evenings. Contact Michael Smith (dre@stdominics.org) or Shelley Goodale (shelley@stdominics.org) for more information. ***If you wish to start or join a new group such as a Book Group, Study Group, or Faith-Sharing Group, or if you want to recruit a new member for your private group, you should attend the Small Group Opener on October 12, where you will get the tools and connections you need to begin.
Sunday Speaker Series
During children's classes on Sunday mornings, all adults (including singles, parents, relatives, godparents, mentors, nannies, etc) are invited to meet for coffee, fellowship, and occasional presentations/discussions in the groundfloor level of the school building. Child-care is provided in the Nursery during the speaking events. Some topics we heard this last year were:
- What Do I Say Now?: Keeping Our Children Safe
- Facing Grief and Loss in our Families
- Raising Faith-Filled Children in our Technological Climate
- The Injustice of Last Resorts: The Ministry of First Resort Clinics
- Forming our Conscience in Light of Catholic Social Teaching
- The Five Love Languages
- Supporting Your Child's Learning
- Family Catechesis Training
- Spirituality of Parenting: What We Can Learn from Mary, Our Children, and Each Other, presented by Ginny Moyer, author of Mary and Me
- Our Holiest Days: The Meaning of the Sacred Triduum
- A Catholic Approach to Interfaith Relations
Faith Formation Conference
Every weekend before Thanksgiving, 5 Catholic Archdioceses of the Bay Area host a two-day conference of nationally-reknowned Catholic speakers, workshops, exhibitors, and prayer experiences at Santa Clara Convention Center. This year, it falls on the Friday-Saturday of November 18-19. This is an awesome experience to grow in your faith, develop your confidence in sharing Christ with others, and networking with other Catholics in the Bay Area. All are welcome. Formation leaders and catechists are especially encouraged to attend at least one day of this event. There is a carpool each year from St. Dominic's Church. Check out www.faithformationconference.com to register. Contact our Director of Religious Education, Michael Smith, at dre@stdominics.org for more information.
